چکیده

Macrosurfactants consisting of water-soluble poly(vinylcaprolactam) (PVCap) or poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) segments with comparatively shorter hydrophobic poly(styrene) (PS) poly(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorostyrene) (PPFS) were used as kinetic hydrate inhibitors (KHIs). These synthesized 2-cyanopropan-2-yl N-methyl-N-(pyridin-4-yl)dithiocarbamate switchable reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) agent at 60 °C 90 for 1-P(S/PFS) 1-PVCap, respectively, followed by extension 70 PVCap PVP, respectively. The addition to the pure methane-water system resulted in a 53% reduction methane consumption (comparable PVP 51% inhibition) during initial growth phase. A PS-PVCap block copolymer comprised 10 mol% PS and improved inhibition 56% compared no KHIs. Substituting more PPFS segment further 73%. By increasing ratio PS- PVCap- groups polymer, an increase its potential was measured. For PPFS-PVCap, from 5% 10% decreased formation rate 6%. However, PPFS-PVCap copolymers than 20 unable dissolve water due hydrophobicity attendant low critical micelle concentration (CMC).

Mechanisms for kinetic hydrate inhibitors

The importance of kinetic hydrate inhibitors is increasing due to its low cost compared to thermodynamic inhibitors and the corresponding benefits for exploitation of small marginal fields. This stimulates further investigations of the primary mechanisms for the induction times before onset of massive hydrate growth. The hypothesis in this work is that combinations of transport rate limitations...

Hydrophobic amino acids as a new class of kinetic inhibitors for gas hydrate formation

As the foundation of energy industry moves towards gas, flow assurance technology preventing pipelines from hydrate blockages becomes increasingly significant. However, the principle of hydrate inhibition is still poorly understood. Here, we examined natural hydrophobic amino acids as novel kinetic hydrate inhibitors (KHIs), and investigated hydrate inhibition phenomena by using them as a model...

The synthesis and purification of amphiphilic conjugated donoracceptor block copolymers

Nanoscale domains of donor and acceptor materials are crucial for charge generation in organic photovoltaic devices. These domains are difficult to achieve reproducibly in blended materials, but could be engineered into single-material active layers composed of donor–acceptor block copolymers (BCPs). In this work, we report the synthesis and purification of two novel fully conjugated BCPs, P3HT...
